A Quick Hello...

Hello to all my dear visitors and thank you for reading my new blog here at Sofia's Kitchen.

It is all a bit new to me so whilst finding my feet and fixing up the website, I shall regale you with tales of my attempts to produce first class cuisine.  Why food you ask?...well, my family are all cooks, my parents were in the restaurant business for over 35 years before they finally retired and handed the business over to my brother who is now currently running a lovely place called the Shiraz, in Northenden, South Manchester.

I love to cook, in fact, if I wasn't a mom of two small kids, I'd probably have my own restaurant too.  It's a difficult business though, you need lots of capital and then an incredible amount of time that I just don't have right now.  There are plans in place for when they both start school though so watch this space!!  :)  I love to eat as well, which could be a problem but I won't worry too much about it right now.

SO, who is Sofia....and why is it her kitchen?....Sofia is my daughter, all of nearly 4 years old and a diva in her own right already.  She is the absolute apple of my eye and who could think of a better name!!?  I also have a boy, Michael...he is my rock star, he is the head food taster in our family (only 16 months and approves everything!) and generally he loves music and wrestling everyone to the ground.

I'm going to start slowly with the kinds of food I know best....Iranian cuisine.  This spans similarities over middle eastern and meditteranean foods so you will see some foods you'll recognise but some that you might not.  Over time, I hope to expand my knowledge and website over lots of different kinds of yummy things from all around the world.

I have wanted to do this for a long time, but wanting and doing are entirely different things and it wasn't until just recently where I got a mental kick from a very lovely and amazing woman I am proud to call a friend that I could actually gather my thoughts and set this up.  My heartfelt thanks goes out to Miss Rosie Day at http://www.thecompletemissday.org.uk

My first proper blog will be coming soon.  It's all about Pomegranates, gorgeous juicy pomegranates plus I'll have a competition where one lucky winner will win a bottle of Pomegranate Puree exported from Iran.

I will be back....:D
